“Today I Discovered” is an ongoing project here at the Songbird Nest, to see what our product can do for us as regular people looking to discover great new music too! Each week a member of our musically diverse staff will share something new they discovered through Songbird.me.
Today, taking a few moments out of administrative stuff, I popped over to Songbird.me with the unique challenge of finding something “new” when basically all I listen to is music from the 80s. So you can imagine how excited I was when, likely based on my following of artists like The Cure, Roxy Music, and Duran Duran, Songbird.me recommended Talk Talk.
Well OF COURSE it would recommend Talk Talk! After watching a few videos, I recognized a handful of singles, and I realized I had never known the name of this great band! How they slipped past my radar I don’t know, but now Talk Talk will make a perfect addition to my late-night 80s music marathons.
Aside from a slick New Wave sound, they also have an interesting backstory and apparently served as inspiration for Radiohead, Sigur Rós, and even Death Cab for Cutie. It’s a solid recommendation that will be put to good use.
