“Today I Discovered” is an ongoing project here at the Songbird Nest, to see what our product can do for us as regular people looking to discover great new music too! Each week a member of our musically diverse staff will share something new they discovered through Songbird.me.
I’ve always enjoyed music that’s a bit more violent and high energy. Which leads me to my three favorite genres; gangster rap, heavy-metal, and (most recently) dub-step. My musical enjoyment is at its peak when I’m pumped-up and feed off the energy of the bass and high-octane lyrics. That being said, sometimes I like to chill out a bit; it’s nice to have a tune with some soft melody from time-to-time.
I was at work when my Facebook feed indicated that my friend Kristina had followed a group called Beirut. I clicked on the link, and was sent to Songbird’s artist feed, and after checking out their videos– I was hooked.
Beirut will be great for those moments when I want some nice background noise, but still need to maintain focus on my current task. There are not overbearing or obtrusive. They do not require your full attention to enjoy their simple, melodic style.
