Happy New Year

Birdwatchers, ‘birders, builders, and bird friends,

Thank you for making 2007 a great year for Songbird. Your continued support has helped make our project a success. Your growing numbers are also a sign of our growing popularity, keep spreading the word! Meanwhile, we’ll be hard at work at improving both the ‘bird and the ‘nest for your Open Media Web consuming pleasure.

Much thanks and a Happy New Year,
Koshi.

Behind the Scenes: Zombies vs Ninjas

By jkoshi jkoshi

The ninjas can't always fight off the zombie mobs.

Featherers,

Some of you have already discovered our new developer add-on and have been busy making new feathers. If you haven’t yet, you should also install Songbird Developer Tools, watch my Zombies vs Ninjas Feathers how-to slideshow on flickr, and get your new feathers published for the world to try.

Meanwhile, the bird builders threw down this weekend to help get the critical bug list as small as they could. That means a new blessed build later today and hopefully a solid RC2 for you this week. ‘Til then, have fun making new feathers and we’ll talk again later today.

Koshi.

What's better than zombies and ninjas?

Zombies vs Ninjas Redux + Bonus Wallpaper

Zombies vs Ninjas Redux

We’ve been in the new nest for a month and it looks like we’ve found a groove. Now that we’re in the groove, we’ve been making up for lost time and reassessing our priorities as we draw close to the next release. We’ve also started planning for beyond our next release and making sure we’re giving our audiences what they want, and more importantly, delivering a more consumer-grade experience. I’ve been excited to see a few of the un-dead bug reports in bugzilla finally coming to fruition and I’m sure you’ll be pleased with the work.

Meanwhile, enjoy some Zombies vs Ninjas wallpaper:

Sorry for the long lapse in posts. We’ve not just been busy with moving, but busy interviewing new birders and, of course, busy getting to the next release. We’ve been cleaning up and documenting our new APIs and we’ve been adding a few more touches of polish on many areas in the UI.

Meanwhile, if you’re in SF tomorrow and if you’re into t-shirts, Songbird t-shirts will be featured in Graphic Content at Space Gallery.
