We couldn’t help ourselves after 1.5. We had to make some more performance and memory usage improvements for you! We’re very excited about the progress we’re making and we hope you are as well. As with every release there are also many other bug fixes which we hope you’ll appreciate.

It’s with great pleasure that I announce the availability of our latest Songbird for Android release!

For this release we have focused entirely on memory usage and speed with impressive results. We hope you’re as happy with it as we are.

It’s time for another Songbird for Android release! New in this release is support for Podcasts.

Podcasts will now show up in their own view. Also, when listening to Podcasts, we’ll automatically bookmark the last position and restore it when you start listening to it again later.

As always there’s a slew of bug fixes and improvements for you to enjoy.

Here’s where you can find the Podcasts view in the app home screen.

It’s with great pleasure that I announce the release of Songbird v1.3 for Android. For this release we focused primarily on localizations. We now support 26 languages. Yowza! There’s also a boatload of bug fixes. Sweet!

As always, we really want your feedback and help. We are looking for any suggestions you have for the translations. If you find strings that you don’t agree with please go to our online translation tool and suggest better ones.

The online tool we use is called Crowdin. To submit translations you will have to request to be invited into the translation group for the language you wish to help with. You can request to be invited here. Logging in is easy using your Facebook or Google account. If you don’t have either of those you can create an account with Crowdin.

As usual, it may take a few hours for the Android Market page to refresh if browsing from your desktop. If you want to update as soon as possible, please view the page from your Android device.

We’ve been hard at work adding support for more than 20 languages for this next version. We have translations for most of the application and would like your help to refine them.

We’re using an online translation tool called Crowdin to help with the process. You can find our project here.

For now, the project is by invitation only and does have translation moderation turned on so you’ll need to sign up for an account and ask to join the project. If you already use Facebook or Google you may also use either of those to login. It may take us up to a day to approve your request so please be patient.

There’s also a slew of bug fixes included in this beta and there will be plenty more by the time the final release is complete.

To install this build you will need to enable installing applications from ‘Unknown sources’. This setting can be found under Settings => Applications. This build will upgrade the current 1.2 release and you’ll be able to upgrade out of it when 1.3 final is released.

We know some of you have been dying for an update and here it is! We tried to incorporate as much of your feedback as possible and we hope you’re pleased with the results. Here are some of the features you’ll have access to if you update to the latest (and therefore greatest ) version.

• More responsive navigation and transitions
• Landscape support
• Better headset controls support (single, double and triple press support)
• Reduced memory and CPU usage

We were also busy squashing bugs. As always, please let us know what you think and what you’d like to see next.

We already know that we’ll be localizing the application in more than 20 languages. We’ll be requesting some help once we’re ready for community translators to jump in. Stay tuned.

As usual, the Android Market website will take a few hours to update but you can upgrade directly from your phone right now.

We’ve released a small update to 1.1 to address some of the usability issues regarding the lock-screen widget. There are also a few bug fixes in there which should make your Songbird experience on Android even more awesome.

• Lock-screen widget should now always be in front of the default lock-screen.
• Dismissing the lock-screen widget will also unlock your phone if you use a non-secure lock-screen.
• The lock-screen widget will keep the screen on for just a little bit longer than usual to allow you to interact with it more easily.
• Using the lock-screen will no longer cause Songbird to go into the foreground.
• Even better styling when re-ordering items in playlists.
• Keyboard now auto-dismisses when starting to scroll through search results.
• Support for cover art present in folders for albums (cover[.jpg|.png] support)

We’re also trying to figure out why some of you folks with Nexus S’s running 2.3.3 are having problems with the widget. We’re hoping to have those issues resolved for the 1.2 release.

Hot off the trails of our 1.0 release, here’s 1.1! As promised, we’ve included several features and bug fixes you’ve all been requesting. Without further ado, here are the hot details:

• Better bluetooth headset disconnection support as well as bluetooth car audio support

Our intrepid beta testers have weighed in, and the feedback has been great. It’s time for another bird to leave the nest.

The new Songbird for Android is an elegant media player for your mobile devices. Browsing your music collection is easy, and playback controls are always accessible. The unique ‘now playing’ drawer offers quick access to album art and additional detail, including Facebook and Flickr integrations that allow you to share your favorite songs with your friends, and to view dynamic artist images while listening to their tracks (a feature some of you may recognize from the mashTape add-on in Songbird for desktop).

We’ve just wrapped up work on the latest beta of our Android client! If you have already installed it, it should auto-update shortly. If you haven’t, now is a good time to try it out.

Here’s a list of interesting changes in this release.

• Playlist creation and editing!
• Settings!
• Set your favorite song as a ringtone.
• Better interaction between player and phone.
• Better support for headsets with buttons, including using the headset hook button to answer and hang up calls.
• Lots of bug fixes.

Playlist support is accessible via context menus (press and hold) on songs, artists and albums. You can also re-order items in existing playlists by using the dragger on the left of each item in the list. Removing playlists is also done via a context menu option when pressing and holding on a playlist from the list of playlists.
