Maintenance Outage for Songbird Sites

By ali ali Permalink

Bird fans,

We have a bit of maintenance work to do on the web infrastructure that supports the Songbird application. It’ll be taking place tomorrow, October 26th, from 10 AM to 6 PM Pacific Daylight Time (we’re UTC -0700).

Affected sites:

  • profiles.songbirdnest.com
  • addons.songbirdnest.com
  • translate.songbirdnest.com

Affected services:

  • Songbird application downloads and updates
  • Add-on downloads and updates
  • Language pack downloads and updates
  • First run bundles and add-ons
  • mashTape video playback
  • Badges
  • Launch services for songbird:// URLs

These sites and services will be completely unavailable during the maintenance outage.

Thanks in advance for your patience!  We’ll do everything we can to speed it along.

Are you sure about the date since the notice was posted in the middle of what the advertised outage period is. In other words you posted at 2pm on the 25th for and outage that was supposed to start on the the 25th and 10am. Maybe you meant tomorrow like it said but that is the 26th

Nope, just a massive back-end migration. Everything’s back up and should be humming along nicely.

The search for add-ons seems not working…

@HenningStummer Search is working now. Thanks for the heads up!

Had a catastrophic corruption & failure of my music disk. I have very recent backups of all the music, but Songbird’s playlists are such a pain to save off. And as far as I can tell it’s impossible to do the auto-playlists. Please provide some facility for this, native to songbird. Just a ‘back up profile ____’ in the profile manager would do, if it got all the profile data.

Did you guys just remove all spam in the add-on comments?
If so, I <3 you for that.

@gryphon: Sorry you lost your drive, and sorry we don’t have an easier way to make it easy to back up your playlists. It would be a nice feature to have.

@Lenny: Mook and I clear out the spam and the spammer’s accounts daily. Did we miss some? Point me at an add-on and I’ll get it cleaned up.

@ali: no you got it alright, but prior to this cleanup there were a bunch of spam on some of my add-ons dating back several months. But now it’s gone! :)
