Songbird 1.2 Beta 2 is now available for download!

Here are the most noteworthy and complete features we’d like to call out in this Beta and get your feedback on:

  • 2-way Sync with iTunes
If you’re using iTunes Music Store to purchase content, you can now automatically expose iTunes library tracks and playlists into Songbird. You can also export tracks and playlists added to Songbird back into iTunes, so that they can easily be synced to your iPhone or iPod touch.

The Beta 2 release notes contain additional details about this build including a list of known issues.

As always, please file any issues, bugs, or crashes you find in Bugzilla so that we can address them before the final release.

Bloggers & Press: This release is not our final release and is not ready to be reviewed. Since we’re still landing code we suggest postponing any review of the Songbird Player until our final build. If you’re interested in reviewing the final build contact us at: press [at] songbirdnest [dot] com. We’ll be more than happy to give you access to it prior to its release. Thanks for the care and attention you’ve shown Songbird over the past year.

How can I find out, what bugs have been fixed between b1 and b2?

And does anybody know, is it possible to make library organizer to put zeroes before track number? E.g. ‘04 – Sentinel’ instead of ‘4 – Sentinel’.

@Guy West, does this help? http://gsfn.us/t/4mmm

Songbird has suddenly failed for me. Whenever I pick a song, for example, ‘Hells Bells’ – AC/DC, it’ll skip down songs to whichever one ‘works’, in this case, Moon Safari – Air. In other words, most of my library has suddenly stopped working since yesterday. I’m running Beta 1, and I tried to upgrade to Beta 2, which also didn’t work. Then I tried to downgrade to 1.1.2, also failed.

However, Rhythmbox worked. Please fix whatever it is, I love Songbird and have been using it since 0.6 and it’s never missed a beat until now.

    Running Ubuntu 8.10, 64 bit.

@Slate8 thx another with the same problem & solved … ;)

Okay, so removing and then re-adding my music library made it all work again. No idea why. I probably should have tried that before filing the complaint, but at least a less technically apt person might get help if they need it.

When can we expect a portable Version für Songbird for running on an USB-stick? Maybe it can bei done in cooperation with http://www.portableapps.com/ or http://stadt-bremerhaven.de/ ?
It would be very useful when carrying the music library on a stick or portable harddisk an I think for many people this would be *the* argument to choose songbird!

[I know this comment doesn't fit here but I don't know where to properly post this so please forgive me.]

I don’t know if this has happened to anyone else or if it’s just me but since I updated with Apple’s new Java update on my Macbook and now Songbird won’t launch at all, it does initially but it just hangs there and the window never appears at all. I had been using 1.1 for a long while and just a few minutes ago downloaded 1.2 thinking that perhaps the update would fix this issue but still it hangs.

I love Songbird and use it for my music\web browser almost everyday*1 seeing as I don’t know if it’s just my computer or if others are having the same issue I don’t want to say “you need to fix this” but I definitely think it needs to be looked into. Normally I wouldn’t freak out about something like this but I use the app so much that I hate not having it. I’m on a Macbook Black running Mac Os X 10.5.7

*1 Well I need to sleep sometime lol.

    Sorry, I meant 1.1.2 not 1.2

Sorry, I don’t mean to be a pain here but I did download 1.2 here and ran into the same issue.

    @Darksidehearts

Please file a bug report at http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com. That’s the preferred way to deal with technical issues, bugs, et al.

Alright, thank you for the link. Sorry to have bothered you guys about it here, I was upset at the time not to have access to this app.

    Hello,

Did you ever think about creating your very own blog? There are many great platforms, but by far the best is Wordpress. It is easy to set up, however the themes just never fit my specifications. I searched for a simple solution to this problem and realized that there wasn’t one. I then had a template custom made for my needs and was so happy with the outcome. I then decided to build a website that would show the world how to easily hire an expert in wordpress design.
