I know this may sound childish... but I installed sonbird way back way... years ago even... and don't use it because there isn't an equalizer. EQ for the win!

http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6879 appears to be very very similar to my problem. I'm using an AFP share instead of an SMB share, though. It's OSX 10.5.5, songbird 1.0.0rc1, Build 821 (20081103112924).

@Charles-A Rovira: We don't support the rich feature set that you use for your podcasts, unfortunately. We will play back the audio, but the rest will be ignored. Enhanced podcast support is on our to-do list for a future release.

On the subject of an equalizer being available for gstreamer, it looks like gstreamer has a plugin for it: http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/doc/gstreamer/head/gst-plugins-good-plugins/html/gst-plugins-good-plugins-plugin-equalizer.html

- Can you please enter a bug on your network share issue? Knowing the build #, OS platform used and network share type would help a lot.

- Party share feature is a known request -

Thanks!

We are aware of the memory footprint and have several bugs open to work on this in the future. Bottom line we hear ya!

Feel free to add more data here -

@ Henry Warwick

Sorry, we no longer officially support PPC. See - http://blog.songbirdnest.com/2008/07/14/sad-mac-powerpc-no-longer-officially-supported/

BUT a community member created a 0.7.0 PPC build. Hopefully, someone will do it for 1.0.0 when final also. See -

Can Songbird support .m4a files with chapters, illustrations/images, descriptions and links to the web?

My podcast currently uses .m4a format to provide more than just .MP3 audio.

I would like to support another player instead of only iTunes, but I currently dont see the feature set needed to support e-commerce and web-links on any other player.

Maybe I haven't looked in the right places?

Are there any others out there?

Playback from network shares is *slightly* better in this release, but still pretty horrible. Needs a user tunable pre-buffering control or something. (no guaranteed bandwidth on a network share.) C'mon, iTunes can do this.

Party Shuffle died, too. Must Have.
