In order to support upcoming integrations between our web properties and Songbird we’ve started to consolidate all of our user accounts (which currently exist across a myriad of backends). Our goal is to support a single user account that can work across all of our current and future services.
As a first step, we’ve just enabled single sign-on for the Add-ons and Translate sites. For existing users of these services there are two noticeable changes:
- you are now required to log in using your email address instead of your username
- logging into one of these sites automatically logs you into the other (and vice versa)
If you have any questions feel free to contact us and if you notice any hiccups please file a bug.

SubscribeSo when will you enable OpenID to be used for sign ons?
OpenID didn’t make the cut for round one of single sign-on only because we wanted to deploy the minimal first step for migrating existing user accounts. Now that we have a solid foundation, we can open the discussion for future enhancements such as OpenID support.
It looks that gonna be useful for time saving.
When its gonna be finished approx.
Nice progress
What are these “upcoming integrations” ?
OpenID would be great too
@GeekShadow
OpenID is definitely something that we’re considering. We’re also looking at integrating bugzilla and wiki user accounts into this system.
@dan
Great !!!
Will single-sign on ever include blog comments as well? I’m sure user contributions will increase if/when the wiki and bugzilla are integrated.
@effigy – We’re looking into wordpress integration as well.
Where is the link for the translation page. Please put it where it’s accessible like under developers or in contribute. Have to do a search everytime to find the page when doing translations.
Thanks.
