Holy sb_core, Birdman! (and no, this isn’t the equivalent of the Songbird sh*tting a brick)
Wait. What’s sb_core?
sb_core is our new program for recognizing and giving props to those developers crazy brave enough to venture into core Songbird player development.
Go check out the sb_core page, and you can get all the skinny on what it is, but in short, every developer who submits core patches accumulates points. The sb_core page has a table listing the current period’s core contributors. Every 2 months, we’ll be sending out a bunch of schwag and gifts to recognise the folks who are contributing the most. Basically we just wanted to send some love to the guys who are sitting in IRC day after day hacking on patches, updating Bugzilla, throwing the r? flag, and doing all the hard work to ensure Songbird users get a bug-free and feature-rich media player.
Of course, this is not to diminish our thriving community of Add-on authors and Webpage API developers – I like to think we already do a fairly good job of sending them some love.
If you haven’t hacked on Songbird’s core player code before, go check out our Getting Started Guide, and as always – feel free to ping by email or on IRC. For people looking to hack on some bugs, we’ve gone through our Bugzilla and flagged a bunch of good starter bugs for people to chip a tooth on.

SubscribeAnd what about some gifts for addons developers ?
Was wondering how soon that question would come up…
We’ve done promotions in the past such as the “Top 40″ contest which were focused on add-on developers. We’ll continue to do those things moving forward, but those sorts of promotions are harder to coordinate for people working on stuff in the core, hence why we launched this sb_core program.
Stay tuned, we’ll definitely do more things like the Top 40 and sb_core for add-on developers in the future…
Yeah it’s so kind you send stuff in the past for Top 40
But it’s fair to send gifts to core contributors too !
Top 40 was great for me to familiarize me with Mozilla Extensions
