Add-ons Redesign is A-Live!

Add-ons Re-animated

The new add-ons site is (a)live!

We killed the crufty old bugger and worked a little re-animation magic to bring you the healthy 8 pound, 2 ounce site we have today. He babbles more than he talks, but he’s already up and walking around.

As stated previously, our 2 main goals are to make it easier for you to find add-ons you find interesting and to improve the overall experience for developers. We ended up having to rewrite the site from scratch, but we’ll now be able to add new features more quickly and more easily.

Let us know what you think.

Thanks!

No feeds? I love the new design, though. Better than AMO.

The new addons site looks sleek — awesome work. But it doesn’t match with the rest of the website.. Clicking on “Addons” sends one to a website with a completely different theme, it can be somewhat disconcerting for someone new to songbirdnest.com

I hope you have plans to move the rest of the website to the same theme sometime soon ;)

The “Last Updated” Feature broke, all the Addons say they’re updated a few minutes ago.

Yep… Functionality is cool…but design (at least for me) isnt as cool as the rest of the site

Yeah i have the same problem with the “Last Updated” page, its a pity too because i use that section all the time because for some reason songbird never seems to find updates for me.

@ LouCypher: We currently have comment feeds for each add-on, and we’ll be adding a feed of all new and updated add-ons soon. Thanks for the props on the design. The new AMO site does a lot of things right, but there were some things we wanted to do a little different.

@ bheekling: We do indeed. We’ll be updating this blog shortly, and everything else will follow as time allows.

With regards to “Last Updated” being broken… apologies. We have a bug in, and hope to have it fixed soon.

Maybe I’m not so bright, but I don’t see where I can, you know, actually install the add-ons from the new site. For example, on the firebug page:

    http://addons.songbirdnest.com/search?query=firebug

There’s a big gray button that says “Install” but I can’t click it. I’m trying from within Songbird (0.6rc2 on an intel Mac for whatever it’s worth). There’s no link to download the XPI that I can find.

    What’sup?
