Bukets of music

One of the things we continually talk about is that Songbird is a platform. We’re not looking to build out the next iTunes Store ourselves. The whole vision of the Open Media Web is that we can be a user agent for anyone that wants to build out the next awesome music web service.

We hear pretty routinely that web services want a desktop client for helping to manage user uploads/downloads, or as a music-centric client to their web service…. so I was totally psyched to stumble across Ubuket the other day and see a big ‘ol farting bird on their homepage.

Ubuket is building out a music service to help people get their music into
the cloud and then listen to streams of their friends’ music. They wanted a way to help people easily get their music uploaded, and they’ve built a really cool extension for Songbird that enables an upload-area embedded in the service pane display pane. Simply drag and drop your music from your media library into that area and it starts uploading.

How friggin’ easy is that?
