Now playing add-on

That’s moshy’s Now Playing add-on, a wicked add-on that can be shown in one of 0.4′s display panes (in fact, it’s the first community developed add-on to make use of the display panes functionality). It adds an area for users to build an “on-the-go” style playlist, shuffle the order, re-order via drag and drop, and then optionally save it to a permanent playlist.

It’s a rockin’ add-on that’s not only making use of new 0.4 features, but is also filling a big functionality gap that we’ve had a lot of users clamoring for.

So then, do we know when you plan on centralizing on a media core? If I remember correctly, you guys contracted porting gstreamer out to someone, but I don’t really want to bother them, as that would probably just annoy them if a bunch of your users started pestering them instead of their actual clients. Is there any update to how that’s going? I only ask because after centralizing on a media core, that paves the way for things like EQ, and of course, the perfect addition to the Now Playing pane, a visualization pane.
