Audioscrobbler Extension Updated

By steve steve Permalink

Greetings fellow Scrobblers! I just updated our Audioscrobbler extension to version 0.0.4 which should hopefully fix the “Spam protection triggered” message some of you have seen on your last.fm pages. See bug 1819 for more information about this problem.

If you already have the extension installed, choose the File -> Extensions menu item to bring up the Add-ons window. Next, click “Find Updates” and it should find and install the new version for you.

If you do not have the extension installed, you can download it from here. Once you have it installed, click on the Audioscrobbler item in the service pane to bring up the display. Next, click the “Preferences” button to configure the extension with your last.fm credentials.

Oh, and check out my last.fm. page to see what I am listening to :).

This still doesn’t seem to be working for me - nothing ever appears to be scrobbled :-(

I’ve updated the bug report with more information.

Does this scrobble the tunes played on my iPod (cooperate with the iPod extension)?

I have not tried it myself, but I suspect it should :)

I have tried this extension, it only scrobbles the songs you play in Songbird, and it works perfectly fine for me. A few times a track is skipped for some reason, but I just ignore that…

Thank you! Now its time for me to switch to Songbird!
It will scrobble ALMOST all of the tracks, but many tracks are scrobbled AFTER some time. More in the bz.
The next feature i would like to see, is an easy way to tag the tracks scrobbled, but making this work for now, is just about what i need.

Is this something that is supported by the API? Got any links to this functionality? Sounds like an interesting idea for the next update…

Uhm…API? I know what API means, but that’s about all i know:)
    whoops… now i understand…

the simplest solution i can think off, is that of a link to the page of the song, and tag from there. In fact, it is truth, that in many cases i will tag from the page, because the lastfm player will not retrieve “per song tags”, something that i find useful as a suggestion when tagging.

MY BEAUTIFUL NEW SONGBIRD 0.5 WON’T SPEAK WITH MY LastFM ACCOUNT!

You guys started the best idea anyone could have program for a bloke like me.
But still I get the message “AUDIOSCROBBLER WON’T BE INSTALLED because it doesn’t provide safe updates”

    & I ask you with much respect: ??? ?

Which Audioscrobbler add-on are you using? If you’re using the really old version referenced in this blog post, then it doesn’t work with any Songbird newer than 0.2.5. We have a new Audioscrobbler add-on here:
