0.2.5 - First Nightly (2007.02.02)

John’s still muttering arcane incantations over the build farm, but we’re so excited about what we’ve got that we wanted to share it with you all even sooner!

Here’s the first in what will hopefully be a very short release cycle to 0.2.5, the most notable feature being the fact that we’ll play Apple and Windows Media DRM tracks, now.

For a list of everything planned in 0.2.5 and beyond, check out our wiki:
http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/

And HELP US TEST! That’s why we stay up till ungodly hours on a Friday night to make you nice folks a nightly build — so you’ll go and test the snot out of it for us.

And remember, if you do find a bug please use bugzilla to report it to us:

I installed Songbird on Linux through Automatix2. I wonder if it will install nightlies or just the main releases.

:( That string is on the translation site:

    http://translate.songbirdnest.com/languages/show/445?page=17

Were you using a different language than english-US?

For people getting an XML error, please try uninstalling and reinstalling to reset your languages.

  7. toxicbird Feb 3, 2007 11:20 am Permalink

yes, it was the language. Nevertheless there is an alert message when starting, even in english-US. pic here: http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/attachment.cgi?id=946&action=edit

I have done this, but the problem exists still.Normally I use the german language. I have everything deleted but this files I have not on my pc: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Songbird” and C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Songbird”.

  10. Optimist Feb 4, 2007 3:23 am Permalink

In the german version of windows, these files are called:
    C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\”Benutzername”\Anwendungsdaten\Songbird
    C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\”Benutzername”\Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten

The folders “Anwendungsdaten” and “Lokale Einstellungen” are hidden, to see them you have to activate “Menü –> Extras –> Ordneroptionen –> Ansicht –> Versteckte Dateien und Ordner –> Alle Dateien und Ordner anzeigen”.

    Hope I could help you!

W00t m4p playback, nice work! Will songbird also support protected m4v files in the future?

This can’t be real. HAHAHA, nice April Fools Day joke devs….omg it works. I’m really hoping I’m not dreaming right now.

someday. video was a pain in the ass to try to hookup.

  15. mig Feb 5, 2007 10:39 pm Permalink

    No joke. DRM playback.

The other programmers were nice enough to leave their libraries and APIs just lying around the OS, so we chose to use them.

    Can you blame us?

(Why isn’t there a facility to report spam? It would mean crap like this didn’t hang around for days before being dealt with.)
