We’re developing again… and you can, too!

So we’re back on the hunt (for the mysterious Yeti), ladies and gentlemen, and wild work is proceeding apace!

We’ve got Aus, Ben, Lone, and Koshi working on a new interim release on the branch. Then we’ve got Matt, Steve, and yours truly working on the next release on the trunk, while Redfive is gimballing frumiously over the automated build system and we’ve even got a new hire, Ian, who is going to be starting tomorrow!

You can learn about our upcoming release plans right from the wiki’s mouth, and you can see our progress on the trunk through our publicsvn site.

Also, Erik Staats (our extension author extraordinaire) has written a wonderful HOWTO to help bootstrap people who also might want to build Songbird extensions:

http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/index.php/HOWTO:_Write_a_Songbird_extension

Superkudos to our mainman with the extensions gameplan. If you haven’t yet, take a spin over to http://windjay.com and see what he’s got to offer!

Good work guys, can’t wait for a new version, interim or otherwise. I’ll be able to use the bird as my permanent media player (a momentous occasion) when the library size issue is fixed, although I’m also hoping for Foxytunes support eventually…

Are there any plans for MP3 tagging or volume levelling in the bird (extension or otherwise)?

I’m hoping those QLoud guys will do a new version of their extension soon, I really want to try out their service but it’s not going to happen if I can’t tag whole albums.

Oh, and Adblock Plus has supported Songbird for a while now, you should add it to your extensions list.
