Down on the farm all the animals make neat noises, moo, cluck, pfft.
That’s where I’ve been the last two weeks, hacking together a build farm so we can actually get some nightly builds out on a nightly basis (the colors!). I started writing bash scripts but then was introduced to Buildbot. So I’ve been installing python and twisted and wrestling with cygwin for our windows build boxs. The biggest excitement has been the 2 new Macs we received, a quad g4 to replace the mac mini for ppc builds and a shiny new XServ, quad Xeon 64 bit for the intel builds. It’s like Tool Time around here, More POWER!!!

The low down is that the scripts are almost ready and perhaps tomorrow I’ll be talking with Rolf and Aus to figure out where to put the packages for download. There may be nightly builds as early as Friday, but probably Monday. Stay tuned!

Rob and I have been dreaming up a new nestmap:

Meanwhile, the birders have suddenly gotten very quiet. This means only two things, they have started coding again, or my new headphones are really awesome.

Featherers gather ’round. I’m working on a branch task, but I think it helps illustrate the direction we want to head in with our CSS. The purpose of the Plucked is to use a little as possible from our Feathers, and rely primarily on the operating system’s native chrome package in xulrunner. There are a couple of things to know about this lack-of-feathers for those of you who want to roll your own.

So we’re back on the hunt (for the mysterious Yeti), ladies and gentlemen, and wild work is proceeding apace!
We’ve got Aus, Ben, Lone, and Koshi working on a new interim release on the branch. Then we’ve got Matt, Steve, and yours truly working on the next release on the trunk, while Redfive is gimballing frumiously over the automated build system and we’ve even got a new hire, Ian, who is going to be starting tomorrow!
You can learn about our upcoming release plans right from the wiki’s mouth, and you can see our progress on the trunk through our publicsvn site.
Also, Erik Staats (our extension author extraordinaire) has written a wonderful HOWTO to help bootstrap people who also might want to build Songbird extensions:

Superkudos to our mainman with the extensions gameplan. If you haven’t yet, take a spin over to http://windjay.com and see what he’s got to offer!
