Breaking News: We’re throwing a “Songbird Almost 0.2″ party this Friday to show our gratitude to the great Songbird community out there in Internet-land.
Get ready to party it up “birdy-style”.
What: Songbird Almost 0.2 Party
When: Friday October 13th, 2006, from 7pm until pushed out of the nest
Samhain is fast approaching and we’re still making nightly builds?
Ah well, it’s the indian summer in the Mission and the bugs are still baking off the sidewalk. We’re so close, we can already taste the champagne… and I don’t even like champagne.
So hopefully one more Release Candidate after this and then nothing new and bad comes in and we call it final. Then there is much rejoicing and I can stop tasting that horrible champagne, yyyrgh.
If you’re in mini-mode and want access to your collection without switching out, click the library icon or ctrl+J to access the Jump-to Dialog Box.
If you’re trying to search within a filtered set of tracks you can also use the Jump-to Dialog to continue to narrow your search with additional criteria.
Now, like I said in the last nightly, this is just an RC of a 0.2 “developer preview” release. The functionality is locked down, we just want to be sure there’s no monster bugs lurking in the shadows and we’ll soon get it out the door and behind us.
So grab your flashlights and poke around as many of our nooks and crannies as you can to flush the little buggers out into the daylight where we can quash them right and proper.
Then we can start to climb the next big mountain after that.
Those of you who currently have installed RC1 should be invited to automatically upgrade but those of you who installed last night’s nightly will have to download and install by hand — nightlies should never upgrade unless we have to test something and tell you so, beforehand.
So I’ve been ordered by the cranky old developers around here to remind everybody that we should all just close our eyes and take a deep breath in and let a deep breath out and chant quietly to ourselves: “It’s okay. It’s just a 0.2, just a developer preview. I don’t expect it to have enough features to replace everyone’s desktop media players yet. I am happy with the fact it has features nobody else does.”
