    Don’t be defensive…
Release what you’ve done when you want (earlyer is better, hehe) and you will succed.

If your work is not yet perfect (it can’t be), that’s not a problem, Firefox (uh ! Proenix) was like that when 0.1 came too.

I think everybody got the message that the 0.1 release will be bloated, slow and crashy piece. No need to spend time doing cartoons about it

What are you guys doing? I have been a follower for the past few months but I am a bit thrown by this ass convering. Is that what this blog is for? To cover you future inadequacies? If so let me know cause I think I will drop the feed and wait for something to be released. When ever that will be.

    waiting… and eager to test

I don’t see where all the fuss is about, i guess the blog is here so you know the project isn’t dead/abandoned. if they dont have any other skinns yet, they have nothing more to show. and making a app isn’t made in a week or so.
Just wait till the first release is here and that youll be (somewhat) satisfied

    greats,
    Alexander

This blog is for us to discuss our app any way we want.

For ME, I use it to tell you the truth about the app and try to stop peoples’ misunderstandings that I read.

For Koshi, well, go ask him. His blog is his.

  14. mGee Jan 6, 2006 11:14 am Permalink

why did you guys even bother making an announcement about an app that is most obviously so far from being done?

Your early announcement and the lackluster feature set are going to make the project fail.

Your idiotic blog posts, aren’t helping.

I don’t know why everyone is up in arms. The team is trying to be transparent, so we get to hear about every little hiccup along the way.

Looking forward to getting some code though!

    Keep it up!

I guess the concept of blogs is alien to you.
Developer blogs are the antithesis of corporate PR-speak that uses hype, gloss, and fabrication to peddle a product image. What you have here is an honest look into the process of developing a product.

I guess you don’t like straight talk, code samples, and debate. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t appreciate good developer blogs.

    You sir, are an idiot.

You have something against cartoons? what a windbag. I wish this whole blog came in the format of a graphic novel.

    Read less Tolstoy mofo.

  18. anti-Kourge Jan 6, 2006 12:09 pm Permalink

God you are a troll and a bitch.
Why don’t you develop some coding skills yourself and make your own product instead of the endless bitching.

    Jackass.

Learn to read, son. The little cartoon posted has alternate text that says “Bloated, slow and crashy.” jkoshi put it there himself.

Seriously, everyone needs to lighten up around here, this is pathetic.

  20. jkoshi Jan 6, 2006 1:17 pm Permalink

I’m glad that some of you appreciated the comic-relief. To be honest, making software isn’t brain surgery, it’s creative and fun, and rarely are you successful on your first try.

As one of the guys working on this thing, that cartoon made me laugh enough to make redbull come out my nose. Giggles are great. =)

I’ve got nothing but good views of songbird, im glad i caught it at such an early time and i can watch it develop and grow. Im sure it cant be that bloated, i mean 10mb is nothing, and sure a 0.1 release is going to crash, i’d be a little worried if it didnt to be honest.

I cant wait to see songbird fledge

  25. Anonymous Jan 6, 2006 3:49 pm Permalink

    thats a well done illustration

  26. James Walker Jan 6, 2006 3:58 pm Permalink

get a move on with the release other wise you will lose users

    good work though

  27. Anonymous Jan 6, 2006 4:23 pm Permalink

    lose users?
It wont be mainstream for at least a year i should think!
And most people would prefer a better release than a rushed one.

  28. mig Jan 6, 2006 5:22 pm Permalink

Hah. Our 0.1 is neither “better” nor, at this point, “rushed.”

  29. kaa Jan 7, 2006 6:29 pm Permalink

lol, nice to see you guys have a sense of humour.

I’m looking foward to the release, don’t worry about getting it out quickly for fear of losing potential users, when it’s ready to go public and massive, it will be.

It worked for mozilla with firefox (no major fanfare when it was released, as soon as it hit 1.0 the marketing began… it just so happened that the software was great waaay before 1.0 and spred around by word of mouth).

  30. mGee Jan 9, 2006 3:17 pm Permalink

Not an idiot at all. Glad to see you’re on the defensive.

Nice way to generate warm feelings among possible future power users.

You might actually be the idiot.

Too bad you can only post as anonymous…even though I have a pretty good feeling it’s a developer.

“I guess you don’t like straight talk, code samples, and debate.”

    Nice debate.

  31. mig Jan 9, 2006 4:33 pm Permalink

    Hah, or something.

You can guess it’s a dev if it makes you feel better. Wasn’t me.

Of course, if I dare correct anyone’s improper assumptions, I am obviously “defensive”

So instead of getting defensive about getting defensive about getting defensive, I’ll just stop.

Feel free to uselessly castigate me further regarding nothing actual in particular.

I’ll feel free to reply as I please, as me.
