SubscribeHow I can download this fantastic software?
It is not released yet. Stay tuned. Read the previous post.
Did I wrote kr-KR in the mail I sent?
If so, it’s mistake.
Korean is ko-KR.
Though the Windows version is said to be the first one out of the gate, can we expect the Mac and Linux versions out soon after (not 2 or 3 years later)?
itunes wannabe
You are obviously missing the point. This isn’t looking to be a proprietary service where you are locked into one companies devices, software, and online store to get the most out of it.
This is about bringing all your music together in one central location to make it easier and more enjoyable to listen to your music.
If you don’t own an ipod, itunes isn’t that great, because you can’t take your legal music with you. This software is about choice and ease of use. It’s supposed to open new doors for your media library, which is not just an itunes knockoff, but a tool for the evolution of digital media.
Cant wait to see what you guys come up with. From the screenshots, it looks impressive. Out of curiosity – do you have a logo for Songbird yet?
Localization for “fi-FI Finnish Finland” done and sent.
It is preliminary and something that needs to be fine tuned after one sees the actual program and in which reference the lines are to.
Just wondering…
How are you guys keeping the modifications of strings for the localized languages? I mean, if you add or modify something, we (Localizers) should update the localizations.
It would be nice to have a page with the localized files, the name of the translator and the version of the localization…
Just a thought.
Viggy Tao and I have collaborated to produce a Chinese (PRC) translation. Some adjustment may be necessary once we see how the strings are actually used in the dialog boxes.
I already wrote that in the mail for the german localization. But i can wait until it is released, after that we may provide a better language support.
Hi,
As the nl-NL translator, could you put me into contact with the nl-BE translator, and send me a copy of the nl-BE translation? I’d like to compare the differences, and coordinate our efforts. Thanks in advance.

I am so excited to have a nice media player!
rofl
You’re actually the only one standing up for his boyfriend’s tailpipe. And like I told you before we’re not gonna fall for the bananna in the tailpipe routine.
Why would anyone want to be a an Itune? MAC sucks, and thats why they have such a small market share. Not open, this is put midia player and I tunes out of business.
Says who?!
What, you don’t like bananas?
I doubt you have ever tried a Mac. You’ll be surprised of how nice it is. I’m not specifically favoring it over anything else, theres a lot of nice Linux distros out there aswell – and Windows 2003 Server aint that bad…, but Mac is a great OS that just works. Though I agree it might be a bit “lock-in” to Apples technologies in some areas.
If iTunes is no good, why does this vaporware look EXACTLY like it? I swear – everyone is willing to blast Apple and iTunes and then produce an exact copy of Apple products and push it as their own. Whatever.
My mom is computer illiterate, she wouldn’t know a Mac user from a PeeCee user even if it was that obvious!
Nice try shmuck!!
I personally know that yo momma knows how them plugs fit those slots. but yes, she’s illiterate all right.
Yo momma wears combat boots
yo momma does BeOS developers
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least
This is an iTunes rip-off, assholes! Jobs will sue the shit out of your sorry asses, morons!
What a funny troll. Same mac fanatic different username. Ugh, you’re like a beggar at Job’s gates.
I have a phone call tomorrow to work things out with a mac developer who has graciously offered his support with getting a mac build sooner rather than later.
For our 0.2 “release,” where we’ll have a public CVS and a build system that works on both MSVC71 and gcc3x, you should be able to get Songbird going on any platform that will also build XULRunner and vlc.
Right now, we handle that by me sending an email to the designer and the other developers that says “STOP PUTTING NEW STRINGS INTO THE DTD FILE!”
So we’re good with what I posted in my second post.
Eventually, there’s a tool to handle all of this. That’s also supposed to be part of our 0.2 release.
0.1 is quick and dirty and “look what we can do real fast with the tools already available in the world!”
That’s fair
Well, I’m realy hoping to see the 0.1 version then. There is something on this project that catches my atention, and it realy looks that it will make up to our expectations.
Good luck, guys.
PS: Don’t pay atentions to the “iTunes” guys. You’ve not even released a single demo yet, and they are already criticizing…
