Index of http://www2.b3ta.com/mp3/

By mig mig

B3ta.com is a humor site, and apparently one author there fancies himself a musician as well. It amuses me greatly, so it’s the next indexof page for my indexof blog.

With songs like “Bum Sex,” “Kill Your Parents,” and “Nazi School,” I think he’s got his finger firmly on the pulse of the youth of today.

What’s your opinion?

And, again, what should your favourite media player do with that url?

ps: It looks like the ftp “subscribe”/”podcast” feature isn’t going to be working in the first release (even tho the “web playlist”/”urlslurp” works fine when viewing ftp folders through gecko), so I changed the OpenBSD indexof url to http://openbsd.mirrors.tds.net/pub/OpenBSD/songs/

“Skinning” vs “iTunes”

So, it’s koshi’s job to produce a default user interface that is as easy as possible for the novice user to navigate and work with. And it’s not surprising at the end of the day that it looks eerily similar to most other media players (or to Firefox with the sidebar open and some media controls replacing the web controls, hmm?). The color scheme might be rather aggressive, but that’s because we understand that our opening audience is not actually going to be the “novice user.”

But, see, it’s part of my job to (eventually) produce a full architecture that empowers lots of other designers in the world to make their own user interfaces that integrate with, or completely encompass, Songbird.

User Preview Delayed / Happy New Year!

By roblord roblord

Hey Songbird Watchers,

So, we’ve been pulling all-night work sessions in anticipation of user preview release before we dispersed for the holidays. Unfortunately, we’re not ready yet. Indeed, we have a few more weeks of work before show-and-tell.

We do, however, have a holiday gift for you. I’ve updated the Songbird screenshots with the latest skin Rubber Ducky and some previously unseen features.

Enjoy the rest of the year! See y’all in 2006.

Managing Expectations

By mig mig

This post is meant to manage, somewhat, the hype and mystery that have sprung up regarding our 0.1 release next week. Certainly, plenty of people have drawn a large number of conclusions based upon nothing but a handful of screenshots. And while I would never presume that I could change the mind of someone who already knows we suck (this is the internet we’re talking about), I think it’s important to make clear exactly what it is we are releasing.
